I have been a little behind with posting as the getting kids ready for school rush has taken a lot of my time and having to entertain them during the glorious summer. Here is my latest DT card, I have made a few more cards and will get some pics now the children are back in school and I have more time.
Here is my first card as part of crafty card makers design team. The theme is blossomsI water coloured the stamp using whispers markers, layered some backing papers from my stash, laid a piece of ribbon over the join then layered the picture on mirri board, punched a scallop circle and a smaller one for the swinging embelishment hung it on three jump rings and using pinflare gel fastened it under the flower from Joanna Sheens online shop. By the way the wonderful Joanna Sheen is one of out fab sponsors along with imag e nation and La pashe.
For any new or nervous crafters out there check out the new challenge blog crafty cardmakers. I was honoured to be asked to be part of the design team. The challenges will be less intimidating than most and there will be plenty of tips etc. There is an awesome sponsor that will be revealed closer to the first challenge and please believe me when I say awesome I really do mean it. We also have a second sponsor but no letting the cat out of the bag just yet..... Check the blog regularly as there will be blog candy and more updates leading up to the challenge.
Thought I would give my page a facelift to go along with my return to blogging. Now the flu has gone I am itching to get crafting so watch out for my efforts as any input is always welcome good or bad.
What a long time since my last post. Life seemed to run away with me plus the new honourary grandson took my time. Health has not been good to boot. The good news is my workshop is done. I have posted about it on my Just for ewe crafts blog, it is dedicated to the items I will be selling. For any new crafters check out the new blog I will be linking, it is specifically for new crafters offering hints.tips and challenges. Crafty card makers
Well it's been a few days since my last post but to be honest I feel I should be posting cards and crafty things, I can't make any cards right now as my studio is still in progress. I will pop a few WIP photo's tomorrow though. The studio is now up but there is so much left to do. I am not complaining though as it is so huge and I can't wait to get crafting. A whole fourteen foot by nine foot to myself will be awesome. I thought I would tell you a little about my day at create and craft. We got there late due to the sat nav loosing us lol but Anna assured me it would be ok. We signed in and after a short wait (while waiting Dave Bradford walked past us and winked at me),Jo the production manager came to collect me, we went right in to watch a show live with Dave and a wonderful lady with an art nouveau CD ROM she had drawn, it was so beautiful. We watched for half and hour then went to a conference room for tea biccy's and to play with the four day deal as we needed cards made for the first live show. The door opened and in walked Stephanie Weightman, she is just as funny and nice as she appears on the shows. We had a great chat and she put us at ease. I went out with Jo for a "breath of fresh air" and bumped into Dave again, we had a great chat. When we got back in it was time to prepare for the show, by now I was dying from fright lol. Into the studio we went and sat at a table got our mic's sorted, had a chat with Steph and Nancy Watt. She is also just as lovely and fun as she is on TV. We crafted while the show was going live and occasionally chatted to Steph. I was approached by the sound man and asked could I count to five to check my mic, I thought I had spilled water on it as he didn't ask any one else to do a sound check. I was soon to discover why he did the check...... Steph said she was going to read some emails, she read one or two then said "we have an email from a young lady" then she looked directly at me, who was by now dying in case I had to talk. The camera focused directly on me and as you may guess it was from my daughter and Steph asked me a few things about her etc. How I got through those minutes without hiding under the table I don't know. I was proud of her email though as it was well written for a girl with her head in pixie land lol. When the show was over we went to the counter and had a great chat with Steph and Nancy about crafting. It was by now time for lunch which Steph joined us for. While we were eating Nigel May walked in, I was so thrilled as Anna had said he was coming in on his day off just to meet me as I am a friend on facebook of his. What a truely nice guy. Jo asked if I wanted to go for more "fresh air" and Nigel joined us so where as the other ladies shared Steph I got one on one time chatting to Nigel and other presenters that shared mine and Jo's addiction for fresh air. Time for the next show seemed to come very quickly while we were chatting but it was less nerve racking. Nigel hugged us and gave us a kiss on the cheek to say goodbye and it was back on air. After the second show was over we were given a little more time to chat then it was over, we were all given the kits to bring home and a goody bag, we all had photo's taken and Steph,Nancy and Jo gave us all a hug and a peck on the cheek to say bye. It took six plus hours to get there and was exhausting but boy was it worth it. We were asked if we would be interested in going back and as you can imagine we all said yes please. I thought that what we see on the shows was just for the cameras but please believe me the whole building is full of such lovely friendly people, the presenters were all amazing and just as great off air as they are on air. My only regret about the whole day is that it is over. I have put tow pictures on here but the quality is bad as they were taken on my mobile as someone left the camera at home.....oops
Wow it has been so up and down these last few weeks, I am so nervous about this weekend I feel queasy. I am also having my new workshop delivered it is fourteen foot by nine foot, we waited all week for it and now he has decided to bring it today of all days. I was supposed to go get something to wear as there is a certain dress code for the show which includes none of the style clothes I wear. The workshop needs weather treating and needs to go up right away for several reasons, all of my remaining stuff in in the middle of the lounge including my desk and shelves etc so we need it out of the way. Then there is always the fact once my small workshop is down and gone to the new owner I will have a gaping hole in the fence where it stood and the dogs can get free. I only managed to get the new workshop because we had to get a loan for a car as our old one was dead and we had no transport, I listed my small play house for sale and got almost enough to buy the total bargain from our local paper 14 X 9 shed for two hundred, well my playhouse got one fifty and by the time we paid for the car we had fourty left so I bartered. Watch this space and I will keep updated photo's of the work in progress. I have been selling some things on ebay and replacing a few things that were ruined and thanks to Anesha and Carol being so sweet and kind I had two wonderful surprises....Thank you both from the bottom of my heart your gems.
Hey guys check out the link to the left, I know I am probably biased but this girl is amazing. My daughter Amelia Jane has a natural talent for photography, she has never had any lessons or been on courses but check out some of her work. She points a camera clicks and turns out works of art. Like I say I could be biased so take a look and make your own minds up.
I am stunned, I got an email from create and craft club with the usual monthly info and at the end of the email it said I was one of six people chosen to go to head quarters for the day and appear on three live shows. I am so excited but as yet have no idea how I will get there with no car.
I am going to scrabble some bits together for this amazing charity and thought maybe you guys would want to know about the event. Click on the image on the side bar for more details on how to help out.
Hi to all you clever crafters. I have been puzzling over if I could rescue all of my ink pads as I had a lot given to me by a fellow crafter some time ago when she switched to machine embroidery instead of paper crafting. Right now I have far too many to even contemplate replacing but due to my mishap they have all dried out. Then a bright idea hit me...Why not ask you guys if you had any tips on how to revive them without having to buy reinkers. Even if I only rescue the basic colours I would be chuffed. So if you have any ideas please feel free to share them. I also thought I would add a list to my blog of things I need to replace and or buy in the future and if you had any of them in your workshop/workrooms you could maybe leave a review so I would know if I am wating time and money trying to get them.
Wow do the fates have it in for me right now, first my cottage and caft stuff being ruined now our 03 plate zafira is kaput. Long story but pertol was put in our diesel engine a year ago and luckily we had it sorted out immediately. We thought we had got away with it but...The car went to have plugs and filters when it was discovered some seals had to be replaced, we had all the work done but it wouldn't start. After some investigation it looks like something major has gone in the engine and is way beyond what we can afford to get fixed. We still have eighteen months to pay for the car so as you can imagine we are really upset. Normally I would say it was the mechanic milking the job for money but it happens to be the mechanics are my brother and nephew. We now have to look into ways of refinancing to get a car and hope the dealers will take our non moving one in a part exchange. If they won't we are stumped. Then today our darling Nero, our white cat, had a massive stroke and has died. Everyone here is devastated especially my son. Nero was a peculiar boy, we had him as an adult cat and he was so nervous he wouldn't come to anyone but me and my son. He spent every night on his bed and if Ben wasn't in bed by his usual bed time Nero would come looking for him and meow to say it was time to settle down. I have given the care of Baily to him but as you may understand it is not comforting him very much right now. We have a new addition to the family who my son is now scared to get attached to as to use Ben's words it hurts too much when they die. I haven't crafted for a while as replacing all I lost is going to be a slow process as we need to prioritise things and right now a car is number one due to the fact we rely so heavily on one, Ben has split days in school due to a reactive lymph node and he is sent home if his lessons are sports,pe, or over the other building on the grounds. I don't go out unless it is in the car so I am grounded plus we can't get to our local super store to get shopping. I hope next time I post it will be brighter news but I just wanted to let you all know why I haven't been about a lot.
Here are one or two cards I made out of some rub ons and using Cute companions rubber stamps, The blue snowman and polar bear cards are the large rub on stickers, very basic but the kids liked them. With the cute companions card I printed out the background from the cd, used a quickie glue pen and added crystal glitter here and there then out came my rocker block and I stamped the image using my very dry stazon pad, to finish it I used some very cheap water colour pencils to paint the snow people, mounted them on 3d pads and hey presto. I do have one here using the mice from the range as soon as I get a photo sorted I will add it.
What a start to my new crafting year, the heater in my workshop was not good enough and to top that we have had very bad weather the majority of my stuff is ruined. I am going to have to start from the beginning now and to be honest I don't know if I am going to ever get it replaced. I am currently lost for words so if I don't post much you will know why.
Hey everyone, so sorry I haven't been around but ill health forced me offline. Good news though we finally figured it out and my HRT and thyroid levels had bottomed out so I am looking forward to the new meds kicking in and getting back to my old self. Another snag being I lost my log in details for my old blog and with out thinking deleted the email account the blog was registered to.....Only I could do a thing like that. I hope you all had a great christmas and that you also have a wonderful new year.
I simply adore all of Joanna's crafting items, I use her tools as their amazing if you have dexterity issues. If Joanna can use it so can I. I visit Joanna's shop directly rather than buy from TV shows as she offers free P&P. There is also a link to her fab crafting forum too.
Fantastic tutorials, click on Michele's picture to go to the tutorial pages.
An awe inspiring stamper. This is the lady that got me hooked on stamping.
Visit Jane's gallery click on image. I can only dream of reaching Jane's standard of stamping.
